Cadets and Class Assistants

Riverton Calisthenics provides its members with a chance to enhance their leadership abilities by taking on responsibilities for younger teams when they turn 13. In the year they reach this age, club members can become a Class Helper, assisting Riverton Coaches and younger teams during class. Serving as a Class Helper is the initial stage toward becoming a Cadet and, eventually, progressing to a Level 1 Calisthenics Coach. To be eligible, candidates must be turning 13 in the respective year and have either completed or be enrolled in Cali Skills Grade 1.

Duties include:

  • Greeting class members;
  • Demonstrating warm up, skills and movements;
  • Assisting team members with basic technique;
  • Starting music for coaches;
  • Assisting to mark out stage area;
  • Passing of hand props/hand held curtains at competitions.

There are compulsory seminars that must be attended at the start of each year.

The following year they may become a Cadet Coach and assume more responsibility in supervising and assisting younger classes. The cadet program was developed to provide an educational program which will increase the Calisthenic skills and knowledge of cadets and better prepare them for entry to the Level One coaching program. Riverton provides opportunity and encouragement for all cadets to work toward self-improvement and expertise in their coaching knowledge.
